The villa's beautiful views over the jungle were fine, and the art collection here is a must-see! I loved the unique carved hut I stayed in, charming and cozy.

Nothing to complain about, thanks very much for a very good stay. The room is a nice size and brand-new with a picturesque view of the sunrise and sunset. The beds are comfortable and the staff is exceptionally attentive and very helpful. Very good service, they provide a free parking and free Wi-Fi. Pool area is clean, truly enjoyed this place.
Nothing all good.

The stay was quite peaceful, immersed in nature, though it was a bit remote from the bustling center of Ubud. I enjoyed the spaciousness of my room and the access to two pools, which provided a relaxing atmosphere to unwind. The amazing view from the pool area, surrounded by lush greenery, was definitely a highlight. Although the dining options were quite limited, the breakfast choices were decent and the vegetarian soup was excellent. The tranquil environment made it a worthwhile experience, despite a few drawbacks.

The location and the whole resort grounds were beautiful. It had a very relaxing and peaceful vibe. The 'infinity' pool was fantastic and the deluxe studio rooms were extremely spacious, comfortable and very tastefully decorated.
The only disappointing, and frustrating, thing was that It was not a quiet and peaceful start to each day. Our room backed onto the village where there were ducks and roosters, so unfortunately we were woken every morning around 4.30am to the ducks quacking and the roosters. At times it sounded like they were in our room! This continued till we finally got up around 8.30am. The resort was full so we were unable to change rooms. We were told by the owner that it wouldn't make a difference anyway and that all of Bali is noisy in the mornings.

The art collection was quite excellent and unique.
The room had a non-functioning light near the bed and only one outlet. The art museum I was looking forward to visiting was closed, only open once a month for groups, which left me disappointed with limited options to engage with the resort.

We enjoyed everything about Tanah Merah. Peter Bloch is an incredible host. The entire staff is very nice and always ready to assist on anything needed. The view of the valley is amazing. The location around the village... The rice fields.... And also the beauty of the facilities. We really miss Tanah Merah and can't wait to be back!
Tanah Merah is fantastic!

Friendly staff; beautiful grounds; personal touches--E.G. Incense delivered to one's patio each evening; fresh flower blossoms placed on bed and other places throughout the suite.

Located nicely out of the way, but not too far from Ubud. We found the Tanah Merah (Red Grass I think?) Resort greatly to our liking. We stayed in a cottage overlooking the pool. It is really different. Nothing like a hotel room. It is a lot of fun, romantic and really something to choose if you are looking for something a little out of the ordinary. Being in Rural Bali you need to expect to hear some pretty serious rural noises from sun up.. Roosters and Chickens and Pigs and all manner of other things. Surprisingly enough, you get used to it pretty quicky and it all becomes a part of the feel of the whole thing. A couple of large Bintangs before bed helps too. The cottage was serviced several times over the day and the mini-bar is refilled many times over the day so it always seems full. Breakfast is lovely and the in house laundry service is prompt and your clothes come back ok. There is wifi but you should invest $30.00 in a wifi amp/7-9db aerial before your come as the signal strength is low in the cabin. We stayed in July and it was cool at night and aircon was not needed at all. A local driver service costs about $5 AU to get to or from Ubud Get them to take you to the Warung Mina Restaurant. The prices are sensible and the food is tops. The hotels restaurant is nice too. The demeanour of the staff is warm and welcoming. The owner is often on-site and is very welcoming approachable. He has written a lovely book which is worth buying.
No Complaints, just some advice..., When you book ensure there are no Festivals due at the local temple if you want to enjoy the most from your Cottage/Timor room. Not all things that happen in these festivals are nice to listen to, especially at sunrise. The festivals would have no effect on the airconditioned rooms though, just the cottages

Amazing pool, parking on site. A work desk, a dining area and a seating area available in the villa. Polite staff throughout.

Couple's tranquil escape
I stayed in a beautifully carved hut on stilts, it was charming and was like stepping back in time while being super comfy! The ambiance was very nice, listening to the frogs and feeling the gentle breeze from my private terrace as I relaxed in that character-filled space, you just can't buy that kind of experience.
It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but honestly, it was worth every penny.

The infinity pool was hte clincher for us! We didn't want to go to ubud without an infinifty pool and a view over the valley. The room happened to be lovely as well. Really large size, oh and the biggest and best bathtub i've ever been in. Copper bath tub, was so deep and great fun for all the family! Staff we very friendly and looked after us well. Its great cos there are only 12 rooms so the place is really chilled out and quiet - exactly what we were looking for.
They should get a dvd collection that guests can watch. We had a baby so didn't leave the room at night, would've been good to have been able to watch some movies or something. And maybe a place ot borrow books from too.

The plus of this hotel is the view and the quiet area (also not so quiet at night and early morning, but hello Nature ;) it's really a beautiful hotel
Taking the stairs to get to the bathroom.. The bedroom is not well though and what really made me sad are the poor birds in their little cage. If that's meant to be pretty, I think it's just cruel and I have heard other clients saying the same things..
